Respiratory Muscle Paralysis, RMP is a condition where the connection between the respiratory centre and the phrenic nerve cell bodies in the cervical spinal cord is lost. The typical case of lost connection between respiratory centre and peripheral nerve is a high level spinal fracture in the neck due to an accident (traffic, diving, sports, etc.).
